The Pierini&Brugi Biological Farm owes its history to the two families that for four generations dedicated with patience, care and passion to cultivating the land. It is made of two farms, “Podere Poggilombardo” in Scansano and “Podere Belvedere” in Campagnatico, for a total extent of about 100 hectares. Both are on the top of two hills at 300-500 metres above sea level, in two of the most wild and evocative places of the Tuscan Maremma. Surrounded by woods and Mediterranean scrub, the Farms are halfway from the green and relaxing slopes of Monte Amiata and the gorgeous scenery offered by the Tyrrhenian coast. Our plantations are in the heart of the DOC/DOCG “Montecucco” in a geographical area elected for vine and olive tree cultivations, between the DOCG “Morellino di Scansano” and the DOCG “Brunello di Montalcino”.
The climate is the Mediterranean one, with long warm and dry summers and mild winters. The hilly lands benefit constant ventilation and considerable thermal fluctuation, and with their South South- East exposition, they represent an ideal trait to obtain quality products.
The biological products of the Farm are obtained in compliance with CE 834/07 regulation and are certified by QCertificazioni S.r.L. authorized with D.M. Mi.P.A.A.F. n. 26740 of 04/12/2009.
The history
The cultivations
The cultivations are the vineyards (in an area of about 3 ha), the olive groves (in an area of about 5 ha), the saffron (in an area of about 2.000 square metres) and the spelt in an area of about 2 ha.
The remaining area is invested in the sow able land (cereals, forage, etc…), while about 30 ha are wood (cork plantations and maquis).
On reservation we organise guided visits in the farm with tasting of the products.
